Christopher Sparro is the Chief Executive Officer of North America, Sompo Commercial P&C Insurance. Mr Sparro is responsible for a broad range of professional, casualty, property and specialty lines serving clients across North America ranging from small businesses to multinationals. Prior to September 2016, he held several senior positions in the industry, most recently as President of Financial Lines for the Americas region at a leading property and casualty insurer, where he built an extensive network of wholesale and retail distribution partners.

Mr Sparro holds a bachelor’s degree in business computer information systems and an MBA in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University.

Brian Bohaty is Chief Operating Officer, North America and Global Head of Data. In this role, he leads operational strategy to support our continued growth and profitability in the Insurance segment. He is also responsible for implementing enterprise-wide information delivery strategies, data governance and advanced analytics programs.

Mr. Bohaty joined Sompo from Allstate, where he served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Business Transformation. With more than 30 years of experience in asset management, insurance, and wealth management, he has demonstrated expertise in business transformation, operational excellence, and digital innovation.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration from Saint Louis University.

Glen Bronstein joined Sompo as Head of Claims, North America in October 2022. Mr. Bronstein comes to the company with more than 30 years of international insurance experience, most recently as Head of Global Specialty Claims for The Hartford and before that, Global Chief Claim Officer of The Navigators Group.

In each of these roles, Glen oversaw the carriers’ US and International specialty claim units. During a 20 year career that preceded his joining Navigators, Glen served in a variety of senior executive roles at AIG, including General Counsel of a number of its operating units. Mr. Bronstein received his undergraduate at Skidmore and J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law.

Matt Burns currently serves as leader of the our Retail Casualty & Middle Market segments for Sompo in North America. Matt has over 20 years of insurance and executive management experience and is responsible for strategy, talent management, profit, and growth for a portfolio of Primary Casualty, Excess Casualty, and Multiline Middle Market products. Prior to joining Sompo, he held various underwriting leadership and management positions on the carrier side.

Since joining the firm in 2017, Matt has built, from the ground up, the Sompo Middle Market operation and assumed the additional responsibilities for Retail Casualty in July 2025. His team focuses on serving global and mid-sized clients.

Matt is a graduate of Gettysburg College and reports to Chris Sparro in Sompo’s New York City office.

David Carter was appointed Chief Strategic Officer for Sompo North America Commercial P&C Insurance in 2023, after serving as its Chief Underwriting Officer since joining in 2020. Mr. Carter has over 30 years of insurance industry experience with a focus on middle market, specialty and financial products. Prior to joining Sompo, he was most recently Chief Insurance Officer at an insurtech startup, and held various underwriting and leadership positions at Aetna, Travelers and The Hartford. Mr. Carter holds a Bachelor in Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Mr. Curran’s career spans over 30 years, including leadership roles at a top five surety and spearheading a startup surety operation.

An alumnus of Susquehanna University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, he furthered his education with a Master’s from Rollins College. He holds the AFSB designation and is a two-time recipient of the SFAA Platinum Award for his contributions to surety bond promotion and education.

Rohan is responsible for leading insurance operations in Canada, building and growing the domestic business from the ground up. Prior to joining Sompo International in, he has held various positions in Financial Services and Management Consulting industries across UK, Europe, Canada and the USA over the course of his 25-year career. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President, Head of Strategy, Aon Reinsurance, President & CEO AON Inpoint after holding several senior positions within the organization both Canada and abroad. His extensive experience and insight in the market are well aligned to build and grow Sompo’s Canadian business. Originally hailing from Australia, he is currently based in Toronto.

Sara Gundersen was appointed Executive Vice President, E&S Casualty at Sompo in January 2024. In this role, she leads Excess & Surplus Casualty with a focus on strategic growth and underwriting excellence.

She joined Sompo from Chubb, where she served as Vice President of Underwriting. Since joining Sompo in 2018, she has held several senior leadership roles. She served as Senior Vice President for Financial Institutions & Professional Services, and was later appointed Executive Vice President and U.S. Asian Risk Solutions Leader, where she was responsible for driving profitable growth across Property & Casualty lines for U.S. operations of Asian-owned companies.

Ms. Gundersen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Union College.

Brad Leighton is the CEO of AgriSompo North America. He has accumulated more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career at Allied Insurance and later served in several senior leadership roles at Diversified Crop Insurance Services, which was acquired by Sompo in 2020. Leighton served as a Senior Vice President at AgriSompo North America before becoming President in 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Central College in Pella, Iowa. 

Tara Lillis is the SVP, Business Development, Strategy and Analytics at Sompo. Having more than a decade of experience within the insurance industry, she focuses on building business development strategies across North America and establishing success metrics from various initiatives across the retail and wholesale channels.

Jon Monks was appointed EVP, Head of Distribution, Business Development, and Client Engagement for Sompo North America.

He joined Sompo in 2018 to build the Business Development platform for Sompo’s U.S. platform.

Mr Monks has 25 years of experience in the industry, the last 14 of which has been focused on Business Development and Client Engagement for Sompo International and another global carrier.

He holds a B.A. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Patrick Mulhall was appointed EVP, Head of Property, North America at Sompo in March 2020.

In this role, he leads the strategic direction and underwriting operations for the commercial property portfolio. Mr. Mulhall joined Sompo from AXIS Capital, where he served as Executive Vice President at Axis Insurance. Since joining Sompo in 2017, he has held senior leadership roles in the commercial property division.

Mr. Mulhall holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Connecticut State University.

Dillon Remler was appointed SVP, US Insurance Transformation and Integration in June 2020. He leads strategic transformation initiatives to drive sustainable growth and profitability across Property, Casualty, Specialty, and Financial Lines.

Mr Remler has more than three decades of experience with major global financial institutions.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Redlands and also studied at the University of East Anglia.

Ray Santiago was appointed EVP, Head of Financial Lines, North America in August 2022. In this role, he leads the strategic direction and underwriting operations for the Financial Lines portfolio across the region. Mr. Santiago joined Sompo from AXA XL, where he served as Senior Vice President and Regional Head of Professional Lines.

Since joining Sompo in 2019, he has held senior leadership roles, including Executive Vice President and U.S. Head of Professional Lines, where he was responsible for underwriting and distribution strategies across the professional liability segment.

Mr. Santiago holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Technology from Hofstra University.

Chris Smith serves as EVP, Head of Specialty, North America Insurance. In this role, he leads the strategic development and execution of specialty insurance across the region.

Mr. Smith holds a degree from Manhattan University.

Julie Wagner was appointed EVP, Chief Underwriting Officer, North America in November 2023. In this role, she oversees underwriting strategy and execution across the region.

Since joining Sompo in 2022, Ms. Wagner has held several leadership roles, including Global Head of Property Pricing and Head of Central Pricing & Analytics.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Villanova University.
