I have 20 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry spanning broking, underwriting and management. Sompo has a strong presence in North America, London, Brazil and Asia, yet a still modest one in Europe. We are in the process of changing that now by redoubling our efforts to build out our European offering. This involves building out our expertise in underwriting, claims and operations and corporate functions by recruiting the best talent, an area where we have made great progress, which is on-going. In addition, we are drawing on our strengths elsewhere in the company, including our financial rating, underwriting expertise across multiple classes of business currently offered in different geographies, and healthy risk appetite. We are actively engaging with our clients and broker partners in Europe and the feedback we are getting is very positive – they are excited about what Sompo has to offer.
