Yoshihiro Uotani

Yoshihiro Uotani was appointed Senior Executive Vice President of Sompo Holdings in April 2025 and named as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Directors of Sompo International Holdings Ltd. in March 2025. He also serves as Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Executive Officer of Sompo Holdings, Inc. – roles he has held since April 2021. Mr Uotani leads the company’s global risk teams and brings over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, having worked across multiple international locations including Germany, the UK, the US, and Japan. Since 2012, he has been instrumental in advancing Sompo Group’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) journey.

Mr Uotani played a critical role in the evolution and integration of the ERM functions into the Overseas insurance business, aligning it with the Group ERM framework during a phase of rapid expansion through acquisitions. Before transitioning into risk management, He held various positions within Sompo Group’s Domestic Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance, Domestic Life Insurance, and Overseas P&C Insurance businesses. He contributed significantly to establishing the operational foundations and governance frameworks for the domestic life and Overseas P&C businesses during their formative stages.
