Meet Lauren Bauschard, Claims Account Manager, Assistant Vice President
Please tell us about your career journey and your path to Sompo.
After majoring in psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I was not exactly sure what I wanted to do when I grew up. Both of my parents were in the insurance industry, so this seemed like a reasonable pursuit. I handled workers’ compensation claims for five years before switching gears to risk management. I loved my position as a risk manager but was looking to expand my insurance footprint. I started my journey with Sompo in 2013 as a Senior Technical Specialist, providing oversight on our workers’ compensation program. I managed the program for two years before joining the client service team as a claims account manager. My real love is developing relationships with our clients and brokers and building claims programs that are meaningful and client centric.
What advice do you have for prospective Sompo candidates?
Candidates may view insurance as just underwriting, sales and claims. It may not be widely recognized that insurance holds many facets and paths one can explore. Sompo employees may start out with an interest in one field and discover they have a passion in another. Tell us about an initiative at Sompo that you are most excited for in 2022.
I am absolutely thrilled with our One Sompo initiative for 2022. Sompo’s focus has always been building and maintaining relationships with our clients, brokers, and partners. The One Sompo initiative will allow for a collaboration through all departments, bridging a full circle coverage approach tailored to our client’s risk portfolio. We will pair this model with our service driven claims and risk control teams which will only prove to enhance our relationship promise in the marketplace.
What is your idea of a perfect day outside of the office?
My perfect day outside of work will always include exploring new places, eating delicious food, watching live music with the people I love.
