Meet Richard Buddendorf-Greenhalgh, Multinational Business Policy Analyst

Please tell us about your career journey and your path to Sompo.

I have been working in insurance for over five years now and worked in a total of four different countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and USA. While in New Zealand, I started my career in insurance when I began working for Vero Liability, and later transferred to Australia to work for the parent company Sun Corp. After my time in New Zealand and Australia, I then moved back to the UK and started to work for Marsh Finance. After I successfully immigrated to the U.S., I then secured a position with the Multinational team at Sompo.

What advice do you have for prospective Sompo candidates?

Sompo is a growing company with lots of different avenues to follow. You will find the work here unpredictable and never boring. I have also found they will do their best to help you achieve your career goals.

Tell us about an initiative at Sompo that you are most excited for in 2022.

I am most excited about the “One Sompo” approach to business. I believe this will push the company to be more efficient and become larger on a global scale.

What is your idea of a perfect day outside of the office?

Being at home playing a board game with my wife and friends.
